Remembering the Beatles on Ed Sullivan: Steven Van Zandt and Rubén Blades in Conversation with Budd Mishkin

Feb 7, 2024

On February 9, 1964, The Beatles made their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. An estimated 73 million people tuned in. The next morning, America woke up a different country, especially for the millions of young people who watched. The hype was real, the excitement was palpable and the music was great. And young people wanted in, to listen to the music and to play the music, just like The Beatles.

Steven Van Zandt felt rumblings of a musical revolution down the Jersey Shore. Rubén Blades felt it in Panama. They join us for a celebration of that night in 1964 and its ripple effect across the United States and around the world.

Get ready to celebrate The Beatles on Ed Sullivan. “And you know that can’t be bad.”
