Preserving Democracy: Information Disorder and the 2022 Midterm Elections

A Conversation with Chris Krebs and Cecilia Kang

Nov 3, 2022

The threats posed by misinformation and disinformation loom large ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. In addition to worries about foreign information influence operations, we face a growing threat from domestic-born campaigns. What are the most significant risks facing the upcoming elections and what can we do to counter them and protect democratic processes?

Join Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency founding director and Aspen Digital’s Senior Newmark Fellow in Cybersecurity Policy, Chris Krebs, and award-winning technology journalist and bestselling author, Cecilia Kang, for an in-depth, timely discussion on the battle for the truth in our elections.

Krebs, who was fired via tweet by former President Donald Trump for upholding the validity of the 2020 election, will share his insights and expertise with Kang, who co-authored the bestseller, An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook's Battle for Domination.

This conversation is co-presented with Aspen Digital, and is a prelude to the upcoming Aspen Cyber Summit on November, 16, 2022, hosted at the 92nd Street Y, New York, in person and online. Register here.

Aspen Digital empowers policy-makers, civic organizations, companies, and the public to be responsible stewards of technology and media in the service of an informed, just, and equitable world. A program of the Aspen Institute, we shine a light on urgent global issues across cybersecurity, the information ecosystem, emerging technology, the industry talent pipeline, tech and communications policy, and innovation. We then turn ideas to action and develop human solutions to these digital challenges.
