The Politics of the Pandemic: Dr. Kavita Patel and Dr. Janice Blanchard with James Hohmann

Introduction by Richard Salomon

Jun 7, 2020

The pandemic has exposed a number of severe vulnerabilities in our public health infrastructure and ability to prevent and manage the effects on Americans’ lives. Listen to an honest conversation of what we know about COVID-19; where the federal and local response has fallen short; and the disproportionate impact on communities of color. James Hohmann, award winning columnist of The Daily 202 from The Washington Post, has written cutting-edge analyses on COVID-19 including recent reporting around misinformation from the CDC, and the implications for the year ahead. Dr. Janice Blanchard is on the Faculty of The School of Medicine at George Washington University and has been on the frontlines in communicating issues of Covid 19 and its impact on communities of color. Dr. Kavita Patel has worked at the intersection of clinical medicine, public health and government and is currently working with employers and local governments to understand how to safely reopen the country while also trying to process the latest medical breakthroughs as a NBC medical contributor. She served in the Obama Administration as director of policy for the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement in the White House.
