Person Place Thing Episode 8: Ed Koch

Born in the Bronx, Ed Koch attended City College and NYU Law School. He served in 104th infantry division during the second world war and, later, in the U.S. House of Representatives. A three-term mayor of New York City, from 1978 to 1989. After leaving office, he practiced law, lectured, taught, wrote on many subjects including movies, and hosted a radio show. When he was mayor, New York City was his home, not someplace he passed through in an SUV surrounded by a phalanx of bodyguards. He always seemed to love New York, and to truly live here.
