“Learning never exhausts the mind” — Leonardo da Vinci
Join children’s book author, Gene Barreta, for a reading of his wondrous story about an artist, inventor, engineer and scientist, Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci wrote and drew detailed descriptions of what would later become hang gliders, automobiles, robots and much more. Gene Barretta cleverly shows how Leonardo's ideas ― many inspired by his love of nature ― foreshadowed modern inventions, offering a window into the future.
Students will also step inside Leonardo da Vinci’s masterful workshop and interact with his visionary inventions and monumental works of art. His notebooks — excerpts will be displayed at the exhibit — reveal his capacity for never-ending innovative ideas that have made our world better, endless curiosity and an insight into the mind of the ultimate polymath. Through interactive model building, art making and exploration of modern day Leonardos, this playful exhibit will trace the impact of da Vinci’s genius from the past, to the world we live in today and inherit tomorrow.
