Neil Simon in Conversation with Paul Rudnick
Playwright Paul Rudnick interviews Neil Simon, a Tony Award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and author. This event promotes Simon’s 1999 memoir, The Play Goes On. Rudnick and Simon discuss Simon’s process and inspiration for his writing, as well as some of the challenges he has faced throughout his career. He shares his experiences collaborating with professionals like theater director Mike Nichols, who directed Simon’s The Odd Couple (1965) and Barefoot in the Park (1963). Simon also shares stories about writing plays like Rumors (1988) and The Odd Couple, as well as screenwriting film adaptations of his theatrical works and original scripts. The interview is followed with questions from the audience.
