Jewish Tradition and the Challenge of Darwinism

Jan 28, 2007

Dr. Carl Feit, noted cancer research scientist and the Dr. Joseph and Rachel Ades Chair in Health Sciences at Yeshiva University, speaks about the relationship between Darwinism, evolution, and the Jewish tradition. Dr. Feit wrote a chapter for a recently published compilation of essays, Jewish Tradition and the Challenge of Darwinism (2006). He speaks about the history of the evolution conflict in the United States, emphasizing the Christian fundamentalist endorsement of creationism and “creation science.” Dr. Feit also comments on the recent emergence of “Jewish fundamentalism” and explains his personal perspective on how Judaism and Darwinism can comfortably coexist. The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
