Genius and Madness

Mar 8, 2015

Genius and Madness—Many of the most recognized geniuses in history suffered from some sort of mental illness. Is there a link between creativity and mental illness? What do we currently understand about any connection? Renowned psychoanalyst, author and TODAY show contributor Dr. Gail Saltz explores this topic with: Dean Keith Simonton, Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Davis, who has devoted 40 years to the scientific study of genius, creativity and leadership; James C. Kaufman, Professor of Educational Psychology at the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut, and the author/editor of more than 30 books; and Sylvia Nasar, former economics correspondent at The New York Times and the author of A Beautiful Mind.
