Academy Award nominated actor Gary Oldman is joined onstage by director Joe Wright for a conversation with moderator Annette Insdorf about their film, Darkest Hour.
In the role of Winston Churchill, Oldman received rave reviews at the Telluride Film Festival. His previous films include recurring roles in the Harry Potter series as well as the Batman films, Sid and Nancy, Prick Up Your Ears, Leon: the Professional, JFK (as Lee Harvey Oswald), Immortal Beloved (as Beethoven), State of Grace, Bram Stoker's Dracula and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (for which he received an Academy Award nomination).
Joe Wright is the director of such acclaimed films as Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, Hanna and Anna Karenina. The cast of Darkest Hour includes Lily James, Ben Mendelsohn, Stephen Dillane and Kristin Scott Thomas as Clementine Churchill. Variety wrote about this film, "Set during the crucial first days of Winston Churchill’s term as prime minister, this talky, yet stunningly cinematic history lesson balances the great orator’s public triumphs with more vulnerable private moments of self-doubt, elevating the inner workings of British government into a compelling piece of populist entertainment."
