Former Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff with Jonathan M. Tisch

Sep 27, 2017

Alongside Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, former Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff led New York's dramatic economic resurgence following the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Dan led a remarkably ambitious five-borough economic development plan, that not only helped New York City recover from the attacks but also transform New York’s economy: New neighborhoods were created. Hundreds of thousands of jobs were generated. The largest municipal affordable housing plan in American history was completed. The High Line and Hudson Yards were created. Ground Zero was rebuilt. And New York adopted a path-breaking sustainability plan.

Dan Doctoroff recounts the battles, won and lost, that shaped New York City in the post 9/11 period in his new book, Greater than Ever, New York’s Big Comeback, a dramatic telling of his days in public service.
