Election Night with Joe and Mika: How to Get Less Biased News Coverage

Nov 6, 2012

Election Night with Joe and Mika took place at 92Y on November 6, 2012. In this clip, the panel featuring Mike Barnicle, Mark Halperin, Jon Meacham and Steve Rattner answer an audience question on how to get news channels to be less biased. Barnicle says the problem is that the greatest story ever told is "the story of America" and "the people who vote," but you don't find their stories in the papers. Jon Meacham points to news organizations that "have an economic stake in the perpetuation of conflict rather than the resolution of problems."  Steve Rattner has a contrary opinion, asking if "the media has changed because the media has changed or is the media changed because the people who consume the media like it that way?"
