Discovery/ Boston Review Winners' Reading

Introducing the winners of the 2017 Discovery/Boston Review poetry contest: James Knippen, Erika Luckert, Diana Khoi Nguyen and Courtney Faye Taylor.

Over the decades, 92Y’s poetry contest has discovered such poets as John Ashbery, Lucille Clifton, Mark Strand and Mary Jo Bang. This year marks the tenth anniversary that our Joan Leiman Jacobson Poetry Prizes are presented with Boston Review.

Preliminary judges were Timothy Donnelly and francine j. harris. The final judges were Henri Cole, Douglas Kearney and Monica Youn.

James Henry Knippen’s poems have appeared in The Kenyon Review Online, Gulf Coast and 32 Poems, among other journals. He is the poetry editor of Newfound.

Erika Luckert is a writer from Edmonton, Canada. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Denver Quarterly, Indiana Review and Asymptote, among others.

Diana Khoi Nguyen's poems appear or are forthcoming in Poetry, American Poetry Review, PEN America and The Iowa Review.

Courtney Faye Taylor is the recipient of an Academy of American Poets Prize. Her work appears in Witness and elsewhere.
