David Friend and Maureen Dowd with Brian Stelter: The Naughty Nineties

Sep 14, 2017

From Anita Hill to Monica Lewinsky, from the rise of reality TV to the advent of Viagra, the 1990s were a decade when the public and the private began to blur, when sex and scandal were on our screens, in our newspapers and on our minds.

And now Vanity Fair creative development editor David Friend has summed up these wild years of culture wars and full-frontal controversy in his new book, The Naughty Nineties: The Triumph of the American Libido. Join him and Pulitzer-winning New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd (The Year of Voting Dangerously: The Derangement of American Politics) as they sit down with CNN’s Brian Stelter to look back at a time when the Baby Boomers brought their dirty laundry into the public eye — and how that tumultuous era led to the current state we’re in.
