Claudia Kennedy
Lieutenant General Claudia Kennedy, the “highest-ranking woman in the history of the United States Army,” speaks about her experience as a female solider and officer. Kennedy’s book, Generally Speaking: A Memoir by the First Woman Promoted to Three-Star General in the United States Army, was published in 2001. Kennedy discusses the influence of her childhood and her parents, her twenty-three rules for success, the values of the army, and the importance of getting through hard times. She discusses her experience travelling and meeting people for her recent book tour and argues that “there are no ordinary lives” and “each of us is very valuable and in no way ordinary.” The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
