Are Jews Closet Conservatives? with Ruth Messinger, Nathan Diament, Ira Stoll, Thane Rosenbaum
Jews have a long history of involvement in progressive politics and causes. But more recently, many Jews have embraced more conservative ideas and conservative candidates. With concern over Israel’s security, rising global anti-Semitism and other post-9/11 anxieties, are Jews becoming more conservative? Thane Rosenbaum, professor of human rights and law and literature at Fordham University Law School, moderates a provocative conversation about the possible political transformation of American Jewry with liberal activist Ruth Messinger (former Manhattan borough president and current CEO of American Jewish World Service), conservative lobbyist Nathan Diament of the Orthodox Union's Institute for Public Affairs and Ira Stoll, founder and managing editor of The New York Sun.
