In the Spotlight: Annette Bening in Conversation with MTV’s Josh Horowitz: Netflix’s Nyad

Jan 11, 2024

Join four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening on her new film, Netflix’s Nyad, with MTV’s Josh Horowitz. Over her three-plus decade career, Bening has proven herself to be one of the most enduring and focused performers in Hollywood. An inspirational and triumphant ode to friendship and determination, Nyad is an actor’s showcase for Bening, performing at the top of her game. Based on a remarkable true story, Nyad follows marathon swimmer Diana Nyad (played with magnetic tenacity and grit by Bening) and her coach Bonnie Stoll (Jodi Foster) as Diana prepares for the swim of her life — an epic open-water trek from Cuba to Florida at the age of 60, three decades after giving up the sport. This awards season — in a live taping of Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast — watch clips from the film and hear Bening discuss what draws her to a character, how she connected with Nyad’s story, stories from the set, and more.
