Alan Cumming: "Try Being Gay and Adopting Through the State..."

Nov 27, 2012

Alan Cumming appeared in Reel Pieces™ with Annette Insdorf series. In this clip, Cumming talks about what drew him to his new film Any Day Now. As someone who feels strongly about gay rights and human rights, he found it exciting that the film could be something "people would be hopefully provoked and changed by." Cumming also points to his Scottish heritage, saying "perhaps because I'm Scottish, we have a genetic component with anything about injustice or people doing something bad to people less fortunate than ourselves...I immediately want to be part of it."

The conversation also turned to the challenges gay couples find when trying to adopt, as Cumming said "try being gay and adopting through the state system...good luck."
