Is AIDS just a chronic disease you can live with? Actor Alan Cumming says we’ve gotten too cavalier about the HIV virus and called out the hit show “Girls” for showing too many people having unprotected sex. Cumming was on 92Y’s stage with Simon Doonan, Kenneth Cole and Fern Mallis after a screening of The Battle of amfAR, produced by Cole. The group talked about how dire and dangerous AIDS is, despite drugs that allow people to live with it, and stressed how many people in the world don’t have access to those drugs. Cumming also had special words of praise for Elizabeth Taylor, one of the first celebrities to talk about AIDS.
