Apple TV+’s Acapulco

Star and executive producer, Eugenio Derbez, along with series’ creators Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros, Jason Shuman in Conversation with Cosmopolitan’s Tamara Fuentes

Dec 13, 2021

Join the star and creators of Apple TV+’s acclaimed series Acapulco — internationally renowned Eugenio Derbez, who stars and executive produces, and series’ co-creators Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros, and Jason Shuman — and Cosmopolitan’s Tamara Fuentes for a conversation about the hit comedy series. Acapulco tells the story of 20-something Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon), whose dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco. He soon realizes the job is far more complicated than he ever imagined and in order to succeed, he must learn to navigate a demanding clientele, a mercurial mentor and a complicated home life, without losing his way to shortcuts or temptations. The series, set in 1984, is narrated by Derbez, who portrays the present-day version of the main character, Máximo Gallardo. Acapulco is a charming, nostalgic, and smart coming of age story inspired by the hit film How to be a Latin Lover. Hear Derbez, Winsberg, Cisneros, and Shuman discuss making Apple TV+’s first Spanish and English language series, the importance of breaking stereotypes, stories from behind the scenes, and more.
