Terence Winter is the much-honored feature film and television writer and producer, whom TV Guide recently referred to as “the master of the Mafia genre.”

Winter is currently in production on the Paramount+ series Tulsa King, starring Academy Award-nominee Sylvester Stallone in his first ongoing television series, and Emmy Award-winner Dana Delany. Winter serves as showrunner and executive producer on the series. On the feature side, he is currently producing Universal Pictures’ Shooting Stars, focusing on the early years of celebrated basketball phenom LeBron James. In 2014, Winter received an Academy-Award® nomination for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) for Paramount Pictures’ The Wolf of Wall Street. Directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, the film grossed over $392 million worldwide and earned Winter numerous additional accolades, including the National Board of Review award for Best Adapted Screenplay and BAFTA, BFCA Critics Choice Movie Award and WGA nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay as well.

Winter previously created and was the showrunner and executive producer on the hit HBO series Boardwalk Empire, which ran for five seasons. The series won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series, Drama as well as the WGA Award for Best New Drama Series and was nominated for numerous accolades including the Emmy Award, BAFTA Television Award and PGA Award. Additionally it was named one of AFI’s Top Ten Television Programs of the Year.

Winter was also an executive producer and writer on the award-winning iconic drama series The Sopranos. For his work on the series, he was honored with three Writer’s Guild Awards as well as four Emmy Awards, two for Outstanding Drama Series and two for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

A native of Brooklyn, Winter received a B.A. from New York University and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and is admitted to the bars of both New York and Connecticut. Winter is married to Academy Award-nominated producer Rachel Winter (Dallas Buyers Club), and they have two children.

Since 2014, Josh has hosted the celebrity interview podcast, Happy Sad Confused, welcoming the likes of Al Pacino, Quentin Tarantino, and Jane Fonda for in depth conversations. He lives in New York City.
