As the editor of Cosmopolitan, Jess oversees the editorial for all of Cosmo’s efforts across print, digital, video, and emerging platforms. Previously she served as the digital director of Marie Claire, where she tripled the readership, and she’s held print and hybrid posts at Glamour and Teen Vogue. In 2013 she launched an interactive e-commerce platform for a fashion-tech startup, and in a former life she was a ballet dancer and NYU film student. She lives in Manhattan with her scruffy dog George.

Michael Sebastian was named editor-in-chief of Esquire in June 2019, where he oversees print and digital content, strategy and operations.

Sebastian had been digital director of Esquire since 2017 where, during his tenure, he expanded Esquire’s digital content to include more in-depth feature reporting and writing, exclusive interviews, ambitious political coverage and a new fashion vertical. He spearheaded the launch of the “Politics With Charles P. Pierce” membership program, an expansion of Charles Pierce’s unique combination of reporting and powerful opinion writing designed for political junkies, Esquire readers and Pierce’s existing fan base.

Sebastian joined Hearst Magazines in 2015 to run the digital newsroom. During his tenure, he led Hearst Magazines’ digital media coverage of the 2016 presidential election and launched and oversaw a news department in the U.K. Under his lead, traffic to the newsroom content grew from less than 1 million to more than 15 million monthly unique visitors. Advertising Age named him to its annual “40 Under 40” list, which recognizes the people shaping the media, marketing and agency industries, in 2019.

He graduated with honors from The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and began his career as a newspaper reporter in Chicago. Before coming to Hearst, Sebastian was a media reporter for Advertising Age, covering the profound changes affecting the industry.

Haylin Belay is a seasoned sex educator and health promotion professional with a focus in reproductive justice and intersectional, holistic strategies for healing and care. With over a decade of hands-on experience developing award-winning health education programming and providing professional development for clinicians, educators, and activists, she has dedicated her life to teaching people of all ages practical skills for a healthier, more pleasurable life. In addition to her classroom work, Haylin is also a yoga instructor and spiritual coach, offering workshops, trainings, and one-on-one coaching from an trauma-responsive, integrated mind-body-spirit perspective. Haylin is the creator of Sex Ed For All and My Feminism Involves Witchcraft, projects of Haylin Belay LLC. She also co-hosts a podcast, Emotional Labor, and is the host of the Cosmopolitan web series How To Sex Toy (18+).

Haylin’s mission is to support everyone—regardless of gender, orientation, libido, relationship style, kink/fetish, ability, size, trauma background, or sexual experience—in living their best and healthiest lives. No question is too stupid, and no fantasy is too bizarre. All you have to do is ask.
