Actor, director and producer Melissa Joan Hart has added “Queen of Christmas” to her credits this season. The adored star of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and its spinoffs and Clarissa Explains It All has long been a staple of holiday films, including the cult classic Holiday in Handcuffs. She joins us to talk about her trio of family Christmas films on Lifetime this season and her experiences—directing Mario Lopez in the family film Feliz NaviDAD, starring alongside Jason Priestley in the holiday romance Dear Christmas, and producing the Vanessa Lahey-led Once Upon a Main Street through her production company Hartbreak Films. Melissa Joan Hart has a list of credits far beyond her years. Having made her first national commercial at age 4, she is now a veteran actress, director and producer across television, film and theater.

Already dubbed this year’s “Queen of Christmas,” Hart is slated to release three family Christmas films on Lifetime this holiday season. A multi-hyphenate, she will direct the Mario Lopez-led family film Feliz NaviDAD (releasing on November 21, 2020), star alongside Jason Priestley in holiday romance, Dear Christmas (releasing November 27, 2020), and produce (through her Hartbreak Films production company) the Vanessa Lachey-led Once Upon A Main Street (releasing November 29, 2020).

Hart is best known internationally for her starring role in Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, which is produced by her company Hartbreak Films in association with Viacom and aired on ABC network from 1996-2000 and the WB Network from 2000-2003. She won a Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Award for Favorite TV Actress for the title character. The show is also in syndication around the world and has inspired two Wonderful World of Disney movies, Sabrina Goes To Rome and Sabrina Down Under, both of which she produced and starred in after the success of the first TV movie Sabrina the Teenage Witch in 1995 alongside Ryan Reynolds for Showtime.

Hart first made her mark in television playing the title role in Nickelodeon’s Clarissa Explains It All. Winner of numerous Youth in Film awards for her work, Hart was nominated for a CableACE Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Clarissa Explains It All.

Her other television and telefilm credits include: Netflix’s No Good Nick, Lifetime’s A Very Nutty Christmas (starred and produced), Lifetime’s The Watcher in the Woods (directed), Lifetime’s A Very Merry Toy Box, God’s Not Dead 2, ABC Family’s Melissa & Joey, Lifetime’s Santa Con (starred and directed), Law and Order: SVU, That 70’s Show, ABC Family’s Holiday in Handcuffs.

On the big screen, Hart starred in the romantic comedy Drive Me Crazy, with newcomer Adrian Grenier for Fox Studio for which she won a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actress. She made a memorable appearance as “yearbook girl” in the graduation night comedy Can’t Hardly Wait also a cameo in Not Another Teen Movie. She also starred in and executive produced the thriller Nine Dead with Hartbreak Films producing.

Hart made her Broadway debut opposite Martin Sheen in The Crucible. Her other theater credits include: Nora Efron’s Off-Broadway show Love, Loss and What I Wore, Beside Herself, Peter Hedges’ Imagining Brad and the off-Broadway production of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues.
