The History Channel’s After Jackie: Jamal Henderson and Stanley Nelson in Conversation with Joshua DuBois

Jun 16, 2022

When Jackie Robinson entered Major League Baseball as the league’s first Black player 75 years ago, he changed America forever. But he didn’t do it alone.

Join Jamal Henderson (CCO, The SpringHill Company) and filmmaker Stanley Nelson for a conversation with Joshua DuBois (CEO, Values Partnerships and Gauge) about The History Channel’s new documentary, After Jackie — a look at the untold story of the next generation of talented Black Major League baseball players who stepped to the plate after Jackie Robinson, and continued the tenacious fight for equality on and off the field. Delving into the careers of Bill White, Curt Flood, and eventual Hall of Famer Bob Gibson, the film shines a new light on the generations of Black players who continued the tireless work that Robinson started — working against fierce resistance and marking a new standard of acceptance and inclusivity within the sport of baseball and American society. As we celebrate Juneteenth, hear remarkable accounts about the making of the film, why players like White, Flood, and Gibson deserve just as much recognition as Robinson, baseball’s significance in America’s long fight for racial equality, stories that didn’t make it into the documentary, and more. Follow along using #AfterJackie.
