Lisa Spiros

Lisa Spiros was born in New York City, where she is currently teaching jewelry making at 92nd Street Y, as she has for the past fourteen years. Some of the schools she has taught at include Parsons School of Design, New School for Social Research, New York University and The State University of New York at New Paltz. She has been invited as a guest lecturer and visiting artist by The Rhode Island School of Design, Massachusetts College of Art and the Hiko Mizuno College Art in Tokyo, Japan. Spiros received her B.F.A. in Metals from The State University at New Paltz, NY and attended graduate school at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany.

At The Parsons School of Design, Spiros taught art history; “Survey of Contemporary Metalsmithing”, coordinated the Metals program and taught the Metals B.F.A. degree program, in both the Senior Studio as well as the Senior Thesis courses.
