Machine Sewing II

A level two class for students who already have a foundation of basic sewing skills. Focus is on sharpening those basic skills while learning additional sewing techniques, and building confidence to sew on your own.
Class projects include seam finishes, zipper pouch, knit top (t-shirt or sweatshirt).
**Please see the supply list so you can arrive prepared for the first class. We will start our first project- Seam Finishes, during the first class.

*To the first day of class, please bring the following materials and tools with you:

FABRIC (for Seam finishes):1/2 yard woven cotton fabric. Can be medium-large size scraps of quilting cotton, cotton shirting, or even bed linens that are ready for upcycling. We’ll be making just samples of each technique.

To the 2nd class, please bring the following supplies for the Zipper Pouch:

ZIPPER: (we will discuss zippers during the first class if you’d like to hold off on purchasing) 1 standard #3 plastic closed end zipper, 9” or longer *not an invisible zipper. Recommended zipper: https://www.wawak.com/zippers/jacket/nylon-coil/ykk-3-nylon-coil-jacket-zipper/#sku=nz310bk
½ yard of cotton fabric- quilting cotton or canvas. Or two ¼ yards of fabric- one for outside, one for inside zipper pouch.

To the 3rd class, please bring the following supplies:

FABRIC for T-shirt or sweatshirt-1.5- 2 Yards of knit fabric. (check the fabric yield for the pattern you are using) Recommended knit fabrics include: Jersey knit, interlock knit, sweatshirt fabric. Can be 100% Cotton or a Cotton/ Spandex or Cotton/ Poly mix. (swimwear or activewear fabrics are not recommended).
SEWING PATTERN (you will provide your own pattern for this project):You can choose one pattern from the following options, OR search “Knit top sewing pattern” to find something SIMILAR that you like. *Please note the size range when ordering.
