Figure & Portrait Drawing Combined

- *Graphite Pencils 2B, 4B, 6B
- Soft Vine Charcoal medium
- *Drawing paper 80lb or newsprint - 14” x 17” is okay 18” x 24” is recommended (I use newprint in class)
- *Metal pencil sharpener
- *1 Mars Plastic Eraser (Staedtler recommended)
- Gray kneaded eraser
- Conté Crayon (black, white, sanguine and blue) individual colors are fine and they also sell boxes for portrait/figure

- Graphite Pencils
- Suggested range: 2B, 3B, 4B, 6B
- Soft vine charcoal
- 14” x 17” or 18” x 22” Strathmore “400” Medium surface 80 lb Drawing Paper,
- Pencil sharpener
- Strathmore white plastic eraser
- Gray kneaded eraser
- Tombow Mono Zero Refillable Eraser (they come in two sizes) or Tough Stuff pencil eraser

Demonstrations will be with graphite and Caran d’ache Museum Water-soluble colored pencils on Stonehenge fawn paper. Both wet and dry approaches will be covered. All drawing materials are welcome.
- Graphite pencils 2H, HB, B, 2B, 4B, 6B
- Colored pencils are optional: My favorite is Carand’ache Museum colored pencils. They are very soft and water-soluble. I recommend that you buy one or more of these colors individually at blickart.com, or a set of 20 landscape colors instead.
- Brown or Cassel Earth
- Terra Cotta
- Yellow Ocher
- Anthroquinoid Pink
- Steel Gray
- Black
- White
- Optional: French gray, sepia
- Paper: Basic white or sketchbook paper for quick poses. I use 14 x 17, but any size will do.
- Stonehenge Legion toned paper 11x14 is recommended for the long poses. You can buy the “Colors” (green cover) pad or Fawn or Pearl Gray by the sheet and tear in quarters.
- Kneaded eraser
- Mono zero rectangular retractable eraser
- Pencil sharpener. Hand- held two hole or exacto -school smart electric sharpener, and/or exacto knife with blade change.
Optional: If you use want to use water with water-soluble pencils.
- Synthetic watercolor brush if your pencils are water-soluble – I use a #12 and #6 round.
- Caran d’ache plastic palette or cold press watercolor paper can be used to activate pencils
- Paper towels
- Cups for water
- White artist, or masking tape and/or Clips
