Acrylic Painting for Absolute Beginners

Susan Cottle's Supply List:
  • Acrylic Paint:Golden recommended Heavy Body Acrylic tube colors (Liquitex are fine, individual tubes or Golden tube sets are also fine)
    • Titanium White large tube
    • Quinacridone Red Rose or Alizarin Crimson
    • Cadmium Yellow Light
    • Cadmium Red Light
    • Ultramarine Blue
    • Pthalo blue
    • Optional: Raw Umber
  • 4-5 Synthetic flat or bright brushes.  If you will be standing at an easel, purchase long handle                 
  • Blick Wonder white set here  or if painting flat seated,  Blick Scholastic Golden Taklon here       
  • Small jar Gloss Medium
  • Painting knife.  Metal #46 or 44 blick brand diamond shape are my favorite
  • Disposable Palette paper pad 12 x16
  • 2 containers (jars or plastic) for water
  • paper towels and old cotton t-shirt rags
  • small travel empty spray bottle for water
  • Canvases or canvas panels 11x14. Set of 7 pack here
  • Small sketchbook or paper with pencil and eraser to sketch
  • Optional not required:  Retarder gel if you wish to slow drying time of the paint
