January 6th: An American Story
Farai Chideya, Marcus Childress, Soumya Dayananda, and Candyce Phoenix
The January 6th Committee Hearings reached an audience of 20 million-plus people, and the investigators behind them stepped up to save American democracy. A surprising number of these investigators were Black, Latino, or South Asian — including three of the five team leads. January 6th: An American Story, is an audio documentary focusing on the Black and brown legal eagles of the January 6th Committee. These are the people whose work laid the foundation for the indictments of former President Trump. They endured the trauma of investigating the most powerful white supremacists in America, as well as tracing the legal and financial web of January 6th. In this special event hosted by Farai Chideya you’ll have the opportunity to hear from three of the investigators about what it took to save our democracy.
